Today is my last day at Chillicothe & Ross County Public Library. Many of you have probably never seen me before, and that’s because for the last 6 years I have been mostly working behind the scenes, first as the Digital Services Manager and then as the Access Team Leader. I have happily managed social media, the website, and the online systems many of you use to register for events, reserve meeting rooms, and log your Bookworm reading and activities. I’ve purchased your books & eBooks, and I’ve chosen and managed the databases that many of you use like hoopla, Freegal, and Gale Courses.
Next week, I will be moving to coastal Oregon to begin a new job as the Library Director for the Chetco Community Public Library District in a small town called Brookings. And even though many of you don’t know who I am, I want you to know that I will miss you. I will miss serving this community by being part of such a wonderful library system. I have enjoyed my time here immensely, I love my coworkers dearly, and I am both sad & excited to be leaving.
I have spent the last week training my replacement, Jennifer Slone. Jenn has come to us from the Garnet A. Wilson Library in Pike County. Just like with me, you may not see her much. But trust that she is working behind the scenes to serve you as best as she can, just like I did. She is passionate about libraries, abundantly qualified for her new role here, and I trust that she will quickly come to love this library and all of its patrons as much as I do.
Thank you for 6 great years, Chillicothe! I am not a native Chillicothian, but this city will now always be my home.
