Heather VanGundy is the Collection Development Coordinator for CRCPL and has been at the library for twelve years!
- What are your main duties in your position at the library?
I pick out and buy stuff. Lots and lots of books – eBooks, audiobooks, kids books, and adult books. And even the fun stuff like telescopes, ghost hunting kits, tools and whatever else our patrons might like! - What do you like to do in your free time outside of the library?
My favorite thing to do is travel. I don’t really need all that much variety- give me some sunshine and a beach and I’ll be happy! Just being outside is a close second. - What’s one thing people might not know about you?
I’m one of those nutty Disney Adults. My family visits Disney World once a year, at least. - What’s a current TV show or movie you are enjoying?
I am doing a rewatch of The Witcher to be ready for the new season. Although, I don’t know how I feel about the recast of Henry Cavill’s character, Geralt. - What is something that you can’t live without?
Indoor plumbing. No primitive camping for me. - If you could travel anywhere in the world, where you would you go and why?
I want to go to Africa and do a safari. I don’t have a specific country in mind. I just want to go see the Big 5 in their natural habitat. - What’s one of your favorite library resources/services?
That’s hard! I love that we offer free at home access to ABC Mouse. My son loved that when he was younger! Also, I use the Ohio Newspaper Collection to look up Chillicothe Gazette articles from the early 1900s. You’d be surprised some of the stuff they put in the paper in those days! - What’s your favorite part about working at CRCPL?
Helping people. It is very satisfying to know you’ve helped someone. The gratitude we get from patrons for doing the simplest things is so rewarding. And you never know what the day will bring — it’s definitely not boring.
