Mike Jones is the Outreach Department Manager and has been working for the library for 32 1/2 years, retiring at the end of March!
- What are your main duties in your position at the library?
I love making sure that we provide for the needs of every CRCPL patron. This can include reading materials, audio or talking books, braille materials, descriptive videos, etc. I also order items for the Outreach Department and Library Van. I work with other agencies within our community to provide helpful resource information in times of need. I work side by side with the Outreach team and my weekend public service team! - What do you like to do in your free time outside of the library?
What free time? I have no idea what that is about. I like to stay busy. - What’s one thing people might not know about you?
I am a very private person. I really don’t like any focus to be on me at all. I prefer to stay in the background. - What’s a current TV show or movie you are enjoying?
I really liked the movie Greater. It’s about a guy who was told he couldn’t play football, and despite odds was able to overcome a lot and succeed as a football player. It’s very uplifting and motivating. - What is something that you can’t live without?
I would say oxygen. 🙂 - If you could travel anywhere in the world, where you would you go and why?
I am probably in the minority here, but I don’t have a desire to travel anywhere except around my community. I enjoy helping those and connecting with those here. - What’s a book you like to recommend to everyone?
I always tell people they need to read The Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis. The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe of course is a favorite. It’s
also a really good movie. - What’s one of your favorite library resources/services?
Everything that libraries provide for the entire community! There is something for everyone! - What’s your favorite part about working at CRCPL?
1. Staff
2. Patrons
3. Paycheck
Maybe not in that exact order! 🙂
