#1 – Billie Eilish – When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?
This was a tough choice between this and Yola for #1, but I think Billie’s is unlike anything else out there.
This made me excited about the future of music.
#2 - Yola – Walk Through Fire
Stunning! That voice!
#3 – The Strumbellas – Rattlesnake
I LOVE this album so much! Joyous, sing-along music from a phenomenal live band.
#4 – Thom Yorke – Anima
Not for everyone but I appreciate his soundscapes and cool, trance-like beats. More hypnotic than his work in
Radiohead.
#5 – Sleater-Kinney – The Center Won’t Hold
The final album with the original 3 members. Many long-time fans weren’t digging this, but I thought there was
a lot to like here. And their new stuff sounds great live.
#6 – P!nk – Hurts 2B Human
Always been a favorite artist. Some great cuts on this: Walk Me Home, Can We Pretend, Love Me Anyway (with Chris Stapleton).
#7 – Sam Fender – Hypersonic Missiles
Critics’ Choice Brit Award winner in ’18, this is an excellent debut album. He’s being compared to Springsteen with his raw sound and
lyrical storytelling, and he’s only 25.
#8 – Saint Motel – Motion Picture Soundtrack: Part 1
Kind of artsy and cool. If you like Panic at the Disco, you’ll probably like these guys. Parts 2 & 3 are coming soon.
#9 – Vampire Weekend – Father of the Bride
Full of great songs like Harmony Hall and This Life.
#10 – Alice Merton – Mint
Contains one of my favorite songs of the year: No Roots. Other excellent tracks include Lash Out.
